The Attack the Block director goes undercover with new spy-drama

Joe Cornish, best known as the director of Attack the Block (2011), and co-writer of the upcoming Marvel title Ant-Man, is hoping to launch a Universal Pictures franchise with the spy drama Section 6.

Aaron Berg will provide the script, with Jack O’Connell (Starred Up, 2013) taking on one of the main roles.

Section 6 will centre on a group of spies involved in the launch of Military Intelligence Six (MI6), led by the original director of the clandestine organisation, Sir George Mansfield Cummings (the inspiration behind ‘M’ in the James Bond series).

Cornish’s directorial debut came in 2011 with the British horror-comedy Attack the Block and has also been one of the filmmakers attached to the third Star Trek film. Cornish also co-wrote the script for Steven Spielberg’s The Adventures of Tintin (2011) and the upcoming Marvel film Ant-Man, which is due for release in 2015.

No other actors have yet been linked to Section 6.
