Being the Sci-Fi and horror movie fan that Simon Pegg is, it is no wonder his résumé is a glowing testament to the fact. In addition to feature films, the comedian has appeared in shorts and cameo roles including a Photo Booth Zombie in George A. Romero’s Land of the Dead (2005), a Bearded Cannibal in the Grindhouse (2007) trailer segment Don’t and has featured as the Zombie Hunter Dr. Russel Fell in Nick Frost’s mockumentary special edition television episode of Danger! 50,000 Zombies! (2004).

Pegg’s comedy talent has also shone through the majority of the characters he has played on the big screen, which is not surprising as he began his career entertaining audiences as a stand-up comedian before meeting Jessica Hynes to co-write the cult Channel 4 comedy Spaced. He has since combined his wit and gift of tickling our funny bones with an element of Science Fiction having acted alongside Queens of Sci-Fi Gillian Anderson (The X-Files), Kirsten Dunst (Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy) and Megan Fox (Michael Bay’s first two Transformers movies) in the comedy How to Lose Friends and Alienate People (2008).

We now take a look at Simon Pegg’s top Sci-Fi/ Horror films with a bit of laughter thrown in. How’s that for a slice of fried gold?
